Shri Gaurav Bhandari

Heads of Research and Analysis Group and the International Relations Group at India Exim Bank

Shri Gaurav Bhandari heads the Research and Analysis Group and the International Relations Group at India Exim Bank. In his capacity as Head of the Research and Analysis Group, he leads policy-oriented research on international trade and finance, monitors global economic developments, assesses country and sectoral risks, and provides analytical inputs to the Bank and the Government of India regarding exports, investments and trade negotiations. As Head of the International Relations Group, he oversees the Bank’s engagement with multilateral institutions, foreign export credit agencies and overseas partners, with a focus on strengthening global linkages, advancing strategic cooperation, and expanding the Bank’s international footprint, business opportunities and policy advocacy

Prior to assuming his current responsibilities, Mr. Bhandari served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Bank. In this role, he was responsible for financial planning and accounts, and oversaw prudent management of the Bank’s capital structure, liquidity and financial resources.

Mr. Bhandari has over three decades of experience in the financial sector, including more than twenty-five years with India Exim Bank. During his career at the Bank, he has worked across a wide range of functions such as Corporate Finance, Lines of Credit, Risk Management, Loan Administration, Corporate Communications, Digital Technology, and Grassroots Initiatives. He has also held significant international assignments, including serving as Chief Executive of the Bank’s London Branch and as Resident Representative in London, where he played a key role in establishing and strengthening the Bank’s wholesale banking presence in the United Kingdom. Mr. Bhandari has served as a nominee Director on the boards of several companies. He also currently serves on various key internal committees of the Bank.

A first-class graduate in Economics (Honours) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi, Mr. Bhandari is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta, with specialisation in Finance and Marketing. He is a Fellow Cost and Management Accountant (FCMA), a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB), and a Certified Banking Compliance Professional of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF). He also holds a Certificate in Risk in Financial Services from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (UK) and the IIBF. He has successfully undertaken the Leadership Development Programme for Senior Management of Public Sector Banks, conducted by IIM Bangalore in collaboration with the Banks Board Bureau.
